Whatcom County Council on Aging is a non-profit organization serving the
needs of seniors in Whatcom County. Whatcom County Council on Aging partners
with Whatcom county Parks and Recreation Department to provide seniors with
nutritional, recreational and wellness activities to promote “Healthy Aging”.
The Whatcom County Council on Aging facilitates healthy aging in an environment
that supports and encourages continued growth, involvement and independence.
There are eight senior centers operating in Whatcom County through this
partnership. Senior centers are located in Bellingham, Blaine, Welcome, Everson,
Ferndale, Lynden, Pt. Roberts, and Sumas. Senior centers offer a wide range of
events, classes, and social activities. Whatcom County Council on Aging programs
provide important services and activities at the eight senior centers.
Whatcom San Juan Nutrition Program offers nutritious meals at all eight senior
centers. Home delivered meals are available to homebound individuals. Nutrition
education materials and information is available. A suggested donation of $3.00
per meal for persons 60 + years of age is asked but no one is denied a meal if
unable to contribute. All donations are confidential.
The Wellness Program offers health education lectures, health screening and
schedules strength training classes.
